STUDENT LIFE :
..............................................................................

Lakeview Bible College & Seminary aims to provide students with an educational experience of wholistic spiritual formation, academic excellence, and ministry zeal, all in the context of healthy, godly, Christian community. Our goal is to provide students with “a little piece of heaven” during their days with us. We work and pray that our students will utilize our God-given resources to abound in every dimension of their life in Christ - the spiritual, theological, and ministerial as well as the intellectual, social and physical.

Every Friday at 3:30 pm, campus families meet to share, encourage, pray, and counsel together. Led by a faculty or staff “parent”, these times create a special bond that enhances a student's total ministry-training experience.

WEEKEND MINISTRIES ::
Top

Lakeview students currently serve in over 15 local churches in and around Chennai as preachers, counselors, musicians, youth leaders, evangelists, Bible teachers, administrators and in many other areas of service. Specialized ministries to HIV- and AIDSaffected children and adults, destitute women and children, and senior citizens all together enable our students to visibly demonstrate the love of our Lord and Saviour to His lost and needy world.

Each Friday after dinner, from 8:30 pm to 10 pm, students pray together committing their weekends to God's leading and power before leaving the campus for their ministries. The college provides special transport facilities for women students to return to campus late on Sunday evenings.
.
MISSIONARY INTERNSHIP ::
Top

For the Bachelor of Theology (B.Th.) and Master of Divinity (M.Div.) degrees, every student must undertake a month-long cross-cultural missionary internship. This gives students a firsthand feel of being a real missionary and what it means to incarnate Christ and the gospel to the world. LBC&S coordinates this ministry with the concerned churches and missions all over India where students serve each summer. This practical training will take place after completion of two years of study.

Bachelor of Ministry (B.Min.) students are exempted from the Missionary internship as their field-work consists of a fourmonth church-planting internship in their third year of study.
.
CHURCH PLANTING ::
Top

Planting healthy churches is God's plan to disciple the nations. LBS&S is committed to the same plan to bring the gospel to needy communities across the country. Students are currently involved in planting three churches around Chennai city as part of their weekend ministry programme and the pace is set to accelerate in the coming years.

Lakeview has entered into a strategic partnership with SIGMA (South India Gospel Mission in Action) to establish new churches in South India and beyond. SIGMA was founded by Lakeview alumnus and current faculty-member, Mr. V. Solomon Yesudoss, and enjoys the participation of several staff and students in this vibrant new church ministry. All prospective SIGMA church-planters will receive their Biblical and practical training at Lakeview. Present students may also avail of the opportunity to be involved in planting a new church through SIGMA.

Every student in the new Bachelor of Ministry degree is required to complete an internship to be trained as a new church planter for four months (July to October) under SIGMA. This experience will develop in students the skill to plant churches themselves, and may also be an avenue to join the ministry of SIGMA.
.
SPECIAL EVENTS ::
Top

Students have the chance to participate in several special events all through the year at LBC&S. The first semester calendar includes Spiritual Focus Week, Campus Day, Day of Devotion, and Lakeview Anniversary Celebrations. The second semester has Christmas Celebrations, Missions Emphasis, Annual Lakeview Lectureship, and Campus Day.

Every two years, the Lakeview Alumni Reunion is held in conjunction with the Anniversary Celebrations in early October. Present student enjoy three days of sharing and inspiration as they listen to those who went before them tell their stories of God's love and power in their lives.
